Our story: helping people access justice

We formed in the 1970s, starting as a co-operative of solicitors, and later becoming part of the Law Centres Network.

We are now a registered charity, historically funded by Local Authorities, Legal Aid and EHRC.

Recently we have secured new funding sources to sustain and develop our services. We also work with an ever increasing number of skilled volunteers a year.

Working in partnership is fundamental to achieving our impact – we are members of ACFA,  Bristol’s Hate Crime and Discrimination Service, a lead partner in Bristol’s Advice Network and the Bristol Pro Bono Network.

Projects such as AskUs are delivered in partnership with agencies offering complementary skills and expertise.

Read our impact report for more information about how we help our clients.

We are very excited to have won a ‘Voscur’ Fit for the Future Award – this short film explains why.

We are an award winning Law Centre

We are very proud of the work we do, and the amazing team of staff here at the Law Centre. It’s always nice to have our experience, expertise and dedication noticed.

We hold the Lexcel Practice Management quality mark – industry standard accreditation for both commercial law firms and law centres. It means our services are professional and confidential. It means that clients are always in control of their case, and they will be able to complain in a simple, clear way if our service falls short.
