Jo’s story

Jo claimed PIP back in October 2019. He wasn’t awarded PIP so went to appeal the decision at Tribunal, and his appeal was refused. This took place during COVID (Jan 2021) and was a remote hearing, and had no support or representation at the time. His mental health/learning difficulties made the hearing even more difficult for him to manage.

He went to a private solicitor and had the decision overturned at the Upper Tribunal, and came to us in December 2022 for support with his First tier Tribunal re-hearing.

Our LASP caseworker and LASP volunteer worked on the case, preparing a submission and obtaining medical evidence. The hearing took place, and the appeal was allowed with the Enhanced Daily Living component awarded.

The arrears he will receive will come to over £17k

Nearly 4 years following his initial claim, his appeal is concluded and he can get on with his life

“You were attentive and the legal advice was fantastic. It’s clear a lot of effort went into preparing the case and I’m thrilled with the advice provided. I can’t think of anything that could be improved upon.”
