Protected characteristics are: sex; age; gender reassignment; being married/in a civil partnership; being pregnant or on maternity leave; disability; race; religion/belief or lack of religion/belief; sexual orientation.

Discrimination at work

We may be able to help if you have suffered discrimination at work (or while applying for work). We can advise help-seekers from Bristol and from surrounding areas of the South West.

Discrimination – not at work

We may be able to help if you have suffered discrimination as a service-user of goods or services; rented property; or as a member or guest of a private club or association. Please note: due to capacity restrictions, this service is available for residents of Bristol City Council postcodes only.

Please note: we cannot help with neighbour disputes, personal injury, actions against the police or any criminal matters. We also cannot help with anything related to education law, for example: EHCPs or suspensions/exclusions from schools or colleges.
