Volunteer with us

Volunteers play a hugely important role at Bristol Law Centre, helping us to help people access justice.

Volunteering positions fall into the 3 categories below. Current volunteering vacancies are shown further down the page but if you don’t see something that fits you then do contact us here.

Admin

Our volunteer Reception Administrators create a friendly and professional first point of contact for our clients and visitors, helping them access the right information to deal with their enquiry. This is an integral role and each volunteer brings something uniquely valuable to the team, be it specialised knowledge from their studies and employment, a language, or life experience.

Law Students – Legal Advocacy Support Project (LASP)

Volunteer law students work with the Welfare Benefits team to run appeals to the First-tier Tribunal against decisions on disability and sickness benefits. This allows many people who have no statutory right to representation to exercise their right to challenge decisions made about them.

Pro Bono work

Bristol Law Centre has an outstanding reputation for pro bono work and we are proud to be working in partnership with law firms across the city to deliver free legal advice clinics. Most of our volunteers stay with us for many years showing how committed they are to helping clients. Several of our volunteers’ efforts have been recognised at the Bristol Law Society Awards including winning Bristol Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2022, and shortlisted for the same title in 2019!
